Racial Equality

Systemic racism creates disparities in many success indicators including wealth, the criminal justice system, employment, housing, healthcare, politics and education. Elected officials at every level from local to state to federal can help to change systems that create and maintain racial inequality.  Affirmative action programs and the Equal Opportunity Act were created initially as a result of Executive Order given by the President.  Changes have been made to those programs at the state level by ballot referendums and legislation.

Every vote for every office can have an impact on improving racial equality.

ABOUT US >

WhoMakesChange.org was created to provide information about which decision-makers in government impact the important issues of today to empower young voters to make choices and have their voices heard. State and local elected officials have the power to enact change on many issues.  Your vote in these local elections is what will drive change.  Turnout for local elections tends to be much lower than federal elections even though local officials are often the ones who have the greatest impact on your life.
